…..for They May Act on Their Dreams With Open Eyes, to Make Them Possible – T.E. Lawrence

The world seems to be full of people who are addicted to the dream but allergic to the work it takes to pursue them. Vision is of vital importance to your vitality. That should be a given. However, we must work to make our dreams a reality. Now I do not know of anyone who sings in unison with their fellow laborers while hammering in railroad ties in the 100 degree heat (my idea of “work” as a child. Cornelius Vanderbilt had that vision, and knew the work needed to be done in order to allow his dreams to come to fruition).

The work of today takes on a different visual for most people, and that visual is quite varied. The point is we need to put forth effort for our dreams to come true. Do you think you can dream your way into becoming a famous actor without reading a script? Do you think you could dream your way into becoming a NBA player and not practice free throws (with all due respect to Shaq)?

Dreams are a catalyst, a spark, but without action, they are just vapor. You can’t hold them and after a while you can barely even see them. We need to combine action with purpose. Lay the path to your dream…Brick. By. Brick. No one is going to build your path for you – you can’t subcontract that out.

The good news is when you work toward your dream, you feel GOOD doing that work. That is the type of work that helps you grow INSIDE.

So Dream. Dream. Dream. Keep on Dreaming, nothing wrong with a “pipe-dream”…as long as you get busy laying pipe.
